Release Notes

WARNING: this will only install the assembly, but will not install the pre-requisites nor grant the necessary CAS Policy trust. Please see this discussion for details, and watch this space for a working, full-featured installer.

The first release of Word2MediaWiki.NET. I have tried this with a couple of real, live Word documents of my own (with lots of strange formatting) and the conversion process completes without crashing. While I'd love to keep messing around with this code, it's time to release this into the wild and see what YOU folks tell me.

Working features include:
  • documents are converted in-place to MediaWiki format, suitable for Copy & Paste directly into Wikipedia (or any other wiki that runs on the MediaWiki engine)
  • is not altered (all customization is embedded in a separate .DOT file)

Features not yet implemented:
  • "Upload images" toolbar button
  • "Configure Word2MediaWiki.Net" button
  • automatic upload of converted document to a Wiki server
  • conversion of images in a Word document
  • not tested with Word 2007, Word XP or earlier versions (only tested with Word 2003 SP3)
